Mommy wasn't feeling good the other day, so she didn't have time to help me tell you all about my very exciting day on Wednesday! I got to go visit my kids! As you've heard I'm a Therapy Dog, and while I love to help anybody who needs me, I especially love my kids. I used to get to visit them a whole bunch, but since Mommy goes to the place that she wears pretty clothes all the time I don't get to visit them as much as I would like. The kids I'm referring to is a class of special needs pre-schoolers. They vary in what they need from me. One little boy likes to hold my leash while I sit or lay down in front of him. I really like giving another little boy lots of kisses, he laughs a bunch when I do this, and then he gives me a hug. Most dogs don't like people hugs, but this little boy has a special way of doing it, so I let him and then I give him more kisses. There's another little boy who walked to me for the first time! Last year I always had to go to him, but he stood up all by himself and walked to me, all by himself! There was a new little girl in class this time. I don't know her very well, but she got to pet me. Oh and I heard another little boy say my name! He got kisses too! After all of that excitement two of the kids walked me and Mommy back to the office to sign out, and they both are really awesome at walking me. Mommy holds the leash right next to my collar to give the boys more space on my leash to hold. It's really fun healing with them, they go all kinds of paces.
After we left my normal class we went to a different school and I got to meet a whole new classroom! These kids were bigger than my usual class. Mommy said these kids were much older than my normal class. I had lots of fun there too. Mommy explained to the class why I was there and what I do, and I just laid there like the perfect little Therapy Dog that I am. Eventually the teacher asked a few of the kids if they would want to read to me. I really like having kids read to me! The first little boy to read to me was a little scared of me at first. His teacher didn't realize that before she asked him to sit next to me and read a page, but my Mommy explained to him that I have had to do lots of training and pass tests to do what I'm doing, so after that he calmed down some, and with Mommy's help he started petting me. I could tell he was really nervous at first. He got to have two turns to pet me. During his second turn he let me cuddle up and sit next to him. He was way more relaxed and was smiling more. The rest of the class got to pet me and ask my mommy questions. One little girl had a bunch of great questions! At first she was really quiet, but as she asked more questions she turned her voice on louder! I'd say that's another Armada win! I really liked visiting this class too! I can't wait to go back and visit the kids. I like helping kids be happier!!!!
Tchau!
