Bio:

Caly’s registered name is CH Allyn To CaTENation RN CGC TKI WWD. This name was chosen because Caly’s Mama (LeAnne) and Aunt Mama (Cristi) like big words that most people do not routinely use. LeAnne had originally intended to call her Calypso, after the Jacques Cousteau ship, but since all the other Village dogs have an “ooo” sound added to their name, it became CalySue. Other nicknames for Caly include: CalyGator, The Chosen One, and S***head (her Daddy's pet name). Caly lives in Hurricane, WV with her people LeAnne and Ron.

Caly was the red collared puppy when she was in the litter, and was often called Turtle because of her propensity to lie on her back. She was a wild one as a puppy and still is today. Some people (including LeAnne) had doubts about placing such a spirited pup with a novice owner, but she spent the first six months or so with Cristi during the weeks and with LeAnne on the weekends. Between that and the rest of the Village helping, she grew up to be awesome and adorable: spirited, smart, eager to work and at the same time sweet and well behaved. Her Aunt Mama often says the only thing wrong with her is her white feet! Her Mama of course thinks she is perfect.

Caly has been involved in many activities. She has trained in Rally, Obedience, and loves Agility. She loves to work and often cries in her crate while waiting her turn. She has taken classes with the Kanawha Obedience Training Club, Sterling Canine Academy, and Pine Mountain Good as Gold Dog Training, as well as attending seminars. Her absolute favorite activity is without a doubt is water work. She never met a body of water she did not like: ponds, lakes, creeks, the ocean, and even puddles. She even wants to be first in the shower. She truly is a water dog.

Like all of Cristi’s pups she was introduced to water early. Since she was an autumn puppy, so her first water excursion was in a pool. By early spring, she was in the pond and has been in love with the water ever since. Most of her water training has been done at Cristi’s pond, but she has been to practice sessions many other places including Aunt Tamara’s near Columbus, Ohio, Great Lakes PWDC mock trial in Toledo, OH, and also Movers & Shakers PWDC practice sessions. Her first water trial was when she was just 10 months old. Her natural passion for water was very obvious, but her love of her bumper prevented her from returning it to LeAnne like she was supposed to! The next water trial was much more successful, but the Eternal Swim (2 minute swim with handler) could not be overcome. We are happy to announce that Caly passed the Apprentice level at the PWD Jamboree at High Falls County Park in Seneca, SC on October 9th, 2016. Caly also passed the Therapy Dog International (TDI) test this same weekend.

Caly earned her Canine Good Citizen title in May 2013. She went on to receive her Rally Novice title with the help of Cindi, since LeAnne just had knee surgery, at Parkersburg Obedience Training Club’s trials in Marietta, OH in November 2013. Caly quickly started winning in the breed ring when she matured around the age of 3. She received three 3 point majors at Dayton Kennel Club, Lima Kennel Club, and Central Ohio Kennel Club’s cluster in Columbus, Ohio in November 2015. Caly was handled and groomed by Don and Liz Powell at the cluster. With all of those majors, Caly just needed one more point to finish her championship. In January 2016, at the Charleston Kennel Club show in Charleston, SC Caly received her last point, and was handled by our friend Cindi.

On March 16, 2018, Caly helped us welcome 9 new puppies to the Allyn Family. The sire of this litter is Jack, who was Cristi's Service Dog - Guide. There are 5 girls, 4 boys, and they are all wavy coated. Eight of the puppies are black, and there is one little brown girl. This litter has been a joy to raise and we are very excited to see what the future holds for them!

After Caly finished with her motherly duties, she went right back to doing what she loves best, WATER WORK! Caly and LeAnne worked very hard throughout the summer and earned Caly's Working Water Dog (WWD) title at the 2018 Portuguese Water Dog Club of America's National Specialty in Frankenmuth, MI! Caly, Armada, Sammie Doodlebug, and Phoebe also joined forces with their people to compete in Team Obedience, where they placed 4th for performance and 2nd for Costumes. Our team was The Village (People)!
