I haven't gotten to use the computer very much, especially last week because Daddy went away and locked his computer....then I forgot to ask Mommy to log me on when she got home from the place that she wears pretty clothes. I was going to say a little something about Aidan, on Friday because it was Aidan's Birthday, but neither Mommy or Daddy were home!!!! They keep leaving us pups and not taking us on their adventures. I heard last weekend they went hiking a bunch and slept outside. There's not a whole lot I love, but hiking is definitely one of the things I really do enjoy! We did get to go hiking last Monday for over 2 hours! It was so much fun. Mommy let me hike without a leash for a lot of it and our friend Balta got to come play with us. This weekend they left us to go play at one of those OCRs (Obstacle Course Race)....I like agility, so I'd probably enjoy those, but Mommy says that it's too dangerous for puppies, except Roxy the OCR Dog who is a service dog for her Mommy! She's WAY cool!
Anyway...back to filling you in on what I've been up to! My big, big brother, Aidan's birthday was Friday (09/09/2007). He would have been 9 years old, and it's almost been a year since he crossed rainbow bridge. Mommy was crying a bunch Friday morning, so I know she misses him just as much as I do (probably more though). I tried to help by cuddling up to her while she was eating breakfast, and I stayed as close as I could until she made me go into my bed so she could go to the place she wears pretty clothes. Aidan was an awesome big, big brother!!! He played with me a bunch and he would sleep near me when I was a baby puppy. He made sure the world wasn't a scary place for me when I was a little puppy. When I was big enough to not sleep in my crate we would cuddle a bunch before bedtime. He taught me how to get up on the couch, and he liked to play with me at the pond. We only went off leash hiking together once because he thought it would be fun to explore places we don't typically go (Mommy and Aunt Mama didn't think that was cool)....after that one of us (usually Aidan) would always be on a leash. I got to watch Aidan and Mommy play Obedience and Rally Obedience where they got pretty ribbons. He always seemed to make Mommy proud, and now that he's gone, it's my job to make Mommy proud. I'm not quite as good as Aidan was at that, but I try really hard! Aidan's favorite things to play with Mommy was agility!!! They were a lot of fun to watch playing agility, whih is probably why I like playing agility too. I miss my big, big brother a bunch! He was amazing!!!! Now I get to be the oaf's big brother, and I'm pretty sure I'm as good of a big brother to the oaf as Aidan was to me :)
Yesterday, we finally got to go swimming! It seemed like it had been FOREVER since we got to go ponding. I was a good puppy and I got to wait my turn in a crate near the pond, so I got to watch Trek and MommyDoodleBug work. They were both really good, except the oaf kept going puppy brain and forgot to get his bumper a few times. Allyn All it's been a very fun past few weeks! Mommy says that I have a big test coming up next weekend, so I'm sure we'll be practicing a bunch for it this week! I'm usually pretty good with tests, as long as water isn't involved!
Tchau!
Daddy finally came home yesterday. It was great to finally stop having to listen to the oaf wondering which day Mommy said Daddy would be home. I'm excited that Daddy is home because then I don't have to stay in my bed for most of the day. It is really awesome to have a stay-at-home Daddy, who lets us stay out of our beds and plays with us during the day!
I guess Daddy was super tired when he got home from his trip, and he let ME take a nap with him. He said he was too tired to deal with the oaf, well he might not have said exactly that, but he knows that I'm a good nap taker. I've had lots of practice! The oaf seemed mildly upset that he didn't get to have a nap with us, but he got to stay downstairs and play with the kid. A little while later, Mommy came home. I was so excited to tell Mommy that Daddy let me take a nap with him, so I came running down the stairs, and when she opened the gate for me I jumped all over her, and then I tried to go back upstairs to help wake Daddy up, but Mommy said us pups had to stay downstairs now...bummer!
When Mommy and Daddy came back downstairs a few minutes later they were wearing water clothes!!!!! I had totally forgotten that it was Thursday, which means Armada and Trek's Pond Day!!!! Mommy loaded us up into her car, and off we went! Daddy has been practicing with Trek a whole bunch, and I just come along to have fun, which is awesome. The oaf was well, an oaf when we first got there. I kept running way up on the hill (and of course he followed) to see if I could get him lost, but it never worked. He kept following me back. There were a few times when Daddy and Trek were practicing and Trek wouldn't get his dummy, so Mommy asked me to help out, and I LOVE to help, so I swam out and got the oaf's dummy a few times. He's a silly puppy. After a while we started playing the recall game, with both me and the oaf. Then the oaf got put in the barking lot and it was just me and Mommy and Daddy playing the recall game. For some reason Daddy went out in the water, and he kept drifting farther and farther into the pond, which made me getting a treat from him REALLY hard!
After we got home, I heard Mommy and Daddy talking about maybe letting the oaf and I sleep with them, but ultimately they decided that the oaf might play in the sheets again, so we were banished to our own beds. Mommy made it seem like something happy, and then gave us each an ox tail to chew on....YUM!!!! Trek took forever to finish his, so I started yelling at him. I figure if he wasn't going to eat it properly I should get it. That didn't go over so well. Mommy came down and took it away :(
Tchau!
So the oaf is super gullible....tee hee hee! While Mommy was at work, Daddy left for his business trip to Boston. He told us bye and to be good and left us with the kid. To make my life a bit more entertaining I told the oaf that Daddy didn't want to put up with him anymore and won't be back. O-M-Dog, you should have heard Trek screaming. It was HILARIOUS!!!! Eventually he got sick of screaming, since he figured out Daddy wasn't coming back. So much LOLs for one day. Now I know why Aidan wanted a little brother so badly. They're so much fun to pick on!
When Mommy got home she ruined the joke and told the oaf that Daddy still loved us and he'd be back in a few days. We had fun cuddling on the couch for a little bit and then Mommy fed us and went up to bed, and she let us sleep upstairs with her, but the oaf kept moving around ALL NIGHT, so of course Mommy kicked us out and we slept in the crates, like dogs. I wonder how else I can pick on the oaf!
Tchau!
For some reason the past few nights Mommy and Daddy have been letting me and the oaf sleep in their room (or in my case, on their bed; I leave little room on the bed for the oaf). I don't know why this is happening all of a sudden, but maybe it's because Trek is "a big boy" now. Whatever the reason, I won't complain about reaping the benefits of his new found "maturity." Anyway, this arrangement would be AWESOME, but for some reason Mommy and Daddy keep getting up REALLY early, and leaving the house for a while. I, for one, am not a morning dog, so this getting up and making me go outside isn't cool! At least they're not making me eat breakfast before they go. I don't understand why they would get up so early, Mommy looks like she's been running away from something when she gets back. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't wake up early to be chased by something for 30-40 minutes. Hopefully, Mommy and Daddy will stop this waking up early non-sense and let me sleep in when we get to sleep upstairs!
It's been three days since the oaf turned 2 years old, I still haven't noticed any changes! I don't ever remember being as goofy as he is.
We got to go to the pond yesterday, and the oaf made a fool of himself like always. Yipping and screaming like a baby puppy when it was other dog's turns to play with their people. When we got there Aunt LeAnne, Aunt Mama, Caly, Mommy Doodlebug, and Phoebe were all already there, so we didn't have to wait around in Mommy's car for very long. The human's all set up crates under the shady thing while us pups were playing. Eventually someone started throwing some bumpers into the water, and the black dogs all ran/swam out to get them. I just wait for them to bring the bumper closer to shore before I snatched it and took it up to the shore. If I'm close enough I get treats for doing this. We all had a bunches of fun. Then we all go put up into crates, and each got our own turn to play by ourselves, except me. I was REALLY happy I didn't have to play by myself. I like playing with the rest of my family. Us pups ran all over the place when we were all out together. We were in and out of the water, and on the low boat, and running up the hill. We had so much fun! At one point when we were all on the low boat, the black dogs all jumped off of it to go run up the hill, so I followed them. I didn't want to be left behind. Mommy, Daddy, and Aunt Mama all got REALLY excited for some reason. I don't know what the big deal was thought. After we got finished at the pond we all got baths, like always. When we got home, I was ZONKED, the oaf...was not! Daddy let us sleep upstairs with him and Mommy, and I didn't wake up until WAY after the sun came up.
I'm still a little sleepy, so I think I'll go back to taking a nap now.
